What are the advantages of aluminum over other materials used for truck caps?
Aluminum is highly durable, completely rust-free, and lightweight. These three characteristics make it ideal for commercial cap construction. Because of its light weight, an aluminum caps leave more payload capacity for your pickup - you can carry more parts, tools, equipment and cargo because your cap weights less. This payload advantage can mean real dollars-and-cents savings by improving gas mileage and reducing trip expenses to and from jobs. It also reduces wear and tear on your truck. Because of aluminum's light weight, structural reinforcement can be added where it is most needed, making aluminum caps extra-strong at critical high-use/high-stress points. Freedom from rust means your cap will stand up to wet conditions, salty roads, and other destructive forces of rust that cause steel caps to fail.
What colors do you offer? Can you paint a LEER DCC to match my truck?
LEER offers a wide range of standard colors for its DCC units: The standard (.030") aluminum skin is available in Polar White, Black, Dove Grey, Brandywine, Pewter, Charcoal, Dark Blue, Red, Dark Green, and Silver. Standard colors for the upgraded skin (.040") are Polar White or Black. As an option, any LEER DCC unit can be painted with Dupont Automotive paint that matches the factory OEM color formula used on your truck.
What comes standard on LEER DCC caps?
What is the weight-carrying capacity of LEER DCC roof racks?
LEER conservatively rates the capacity of its racks (standard and optional) at 250 lbs. You can see the LEER roof rack options here.
My company has a fleet of trucks to outfit. Do you offer Fleet Discounts?
LEER will work with you and local LEER Dealers to fulfill your fleet needs, and is proud to offer the most competitive commercial fleet pricing in the industry. Because these sometimes include installation and service at several geographical points, LEER can provide valuable coast-to-coast coordination for pricing, production, delivery, installation and service. For more information on multi-cap fleet sales, contact LEER here.
I'm replacing my truck. Will my old cap fit on my new truck?
While cargo box dimensions from model to model and year to year are similar, they are not exactly the same. That means that it is likely that moving a cap from one make (or model year) to another will not provide an adequate or acceptable fit. If possible, "test-fit" the cap. You may find the fit acceptable for your purposes.
How will my new LEER DCC cap be installed on my truck?
LEER and their customers have long-developed preferences for cap installation. The most popular method is with specially designed C-clamps that anchor the cap rail to the truck bed rail. Four to six clamps are typically used. This method of attachment does not require any drilling of the truck bed rail, although the contact between cap and truck rail may cause superficial abrasion of paint in that area. Some cap owners prefer to have their LEER DCC bolted to the truck bed. LEER installations that use this method will drill the appropriate holes through your truck bed rail and use bolts, nuts and, when necessary, lock washers for the attachment. LEER considers either method - clamps or bolts - adequate and secure for virtually all but the most severe conditions of use.
I have custom design requirements. Can LEER build my cap?
LEER commercial caps include a wide range of options designed to satisfy the needs of the vast majority of commercial cap buyers. We have built our 30-year reputation by finding out what commercial cap owners want, and providing it to them. Our production methods and low-cost structure do not allow us to make custom modifications to our regular cap products. It is likely you will find the features you need in LEER's extensive list of standards and options. In certain cases, new or special options can be considered, depending upon pricing, feasibility, and size of order.
I want to install my own roof rack. Can you reinforce the roof for me?
LEER offers an option called "Bolt Plate Reinforcement" that adds a reinforcing plate of aluminum at four points in the DCC ceiling. This provides the reinforcement you need to add your own rack after you take delivery of your cap. Make sure you order the "Bolt Plate Reinforcement" if you intend to add your own rack.
How long does it take to receive a LEER DCC cap?
Virtually every LEER DCC is a custom product ordered with specifications, features and options to suit the particular needs of an individual customer. That means LEER maintains no "stock inventory" of commercial caps. Once your order is placed through the LEER production facility, typical lead times for delivery are 2 to 3 weeks. This lead time varies through the year, based on volume. Check with your LEER when you order. They can get specific production schedule information from the plant.
